Ashes
I saw him on campus this morning, before classes started. A brave young man -- he looked like just a freshman -- wore his ashes to school. My own church's service was not until this evening, so I didn't have to test my own boldness; not today.
Atonement...
It's 12:11 a.m. on Tuesday night/Wednesday morning...
...and I just got home from school. Grades are due at 8:30, and I still had projects to grade. O.F.F.S.! I won't be posting a photo tonight. I'll do two tomorrow to make up for it. 'Night, all.

Monday Night in the City
Of course, today was the day I left the camera at home, thinking I didn't want to carry it around Local University Campus, where I went for a training workshop.
Of course, today was the day the snow and clouds clung to the local mountains, contrasting strikingly with the lower crazy-green hills.
Of course, today was the day the sky lowered, and the clouds flattened out on their undersides and contrasted mightily with the blue and sun behind, and we were spattered with Charlie Brown rain (only over our heads, while twenty feet away it was dry).
Of course, today was the day the sunset broke pink and splashed it all over the white mountain of cloud and snow.
Of course, today was the day of the photos that got away.
Oh well. I appreciate the moody darks and glowing lights of this backyard shot. I thank the sweet lord for our trees, for lo, behold what I would behold daily without them.

Sunday Shots
I vow I will attempt to reign myself in during the month of February and not post so many photos each day. It seems like cheating, somehow.
But not today. :-)
Who couldn't love this face? (That bulge in his cheek? His ball, of course. Wouldn't be caught dead without it.)
On Friday, we had a student-free day -- no, not for end-of-semester grading -- for all-day meetings. (Grr!) One major topic: disaster preparedness. Now this is my idea of disaster preparedness!
"I See Myself in Grandma." This is a self-portrait -- a sort-of double-headed self-portrait, actually -- in a vase I inherited from my great-grandmother. The photo title really should be flipped; I do hope to see some of her more tenacious and bold and disciplined qualities in myself. Lord, may it be so.
