But we did spend the past week and a half doing intensive review and revving for it. Love it when we have to suspend regular instruction for test prep. Oh, the irony! (Or as Bart Simpson would say, Oh, the ironing!)
Also love the student who told me he did well on this essay, explaining that in class he doesn't usually do his best work. I asked him why. He said, "Well, it's like you said...it's about graduation!" I had to remind him that he actually has to pass four years of English in order to graduate as well.
Where have I failed?

Students say the darndest things!
One of my concerns about pulling the kids out of the private school they were in and into public school is the amount of time they're going to spend preparing for standardized tests, taking standardized tests, and then preparing for the next round of standardized tests. Eldest has already had two weeks devoted to taking standardized tests, and I think has another one coming up, and she's in first grade.
yep! and weighing the cow won't make the cow any heavier. it's a constant struggle for balance and sanity, and i'm not sure either is winning.
